Reviews & Testimonials

What to Know Before You Get Your Dog is not only one of the most delightful children’s book I’ve ever read, but one of the most important. Told in a sweet, relatable way to engage young readers, Margrit teaches about the dedication, and work it takes in being a pet parent. But, with that responsibility, comes great love. Not only does the book cover bringing a dog into your family, but promotes adoption and offers worksheets to continue learning beyond the book. I highly recommend this book to not only those looking to adopt a canine companion, but to everyone who enjoys a story about love, loyalty, and devotion.

Before adopting or buying a dog if you have never had 1 is to research about the breed you plan on getting.
Food, grooming, health care are very important.

You can teach the dog manners & some tricks.

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary; age) dog storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (getting a dog), movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

What to Know Before You Get Your Dog by Margrit Strohmaier is a stunning little book for children (and some adults) that teaches us how to care for dogs in order to keep them healthy and happy. Through rhymes and beautiful pictures, the book highlights everything a dog needs such as food, treats, exercise, grooming, and lots of love. Dogs make good companions for children and keep them safe so it is important that the owner takes responsibility and knows what they are really getting themselves into. There is a cost involved in owning a dog. Besides food and vet bills, the dog will need a bed, collar, leash, and regular baths. Readers can download a useful free dog care chart and a dog care contract from the author's website. This charming little book is a must for all children and adults who are thinking of owning a dog, or any pet for that matter. It reminds us that dogs need taking care of every day, must be taken for walks, and given attention. Then there is the all-important “who will pick up the poop” part. Dogs also require gentle discipline and rewards for good behavior. The dog care chart provided by Margrit Strohmaier is a fantastic gift that helps as a reminder of what needs to be done every day. In addition, the dog care contract gives the owner a sense of accountability. An absolute delight to read, What to Know Before You Get Your Dog should be available at every vet and pet shop. Highly recommended for children and adults.

A fantastic book cover, wonderful hand-colored images, endearing illustrations, and a suitable typeface and writing style. An excellently written children's book about dogs. Both the pictures and the rhyme are excellent. Children often get carried away by a pet's cuteness, but this book teaches them about the obligations that come with pet ownership. My kids have been pleading with me for a dog, so this book was ideal for us!

I found it to be pretty simple to read and follow from beginning to end, with never a dull moment. There were no repetitious or out-of-place sequence phrases, grammar or typing problems, or repetitions. There are many thrilling scenarios, many twists and turns, and a wonderful cast of distinctive characters, locales, etc. to keep track of. The ideal resource to get your kids talking about getting a dog and what it means. This book's advice for potential dog owners helps spread the word about pet ownership's obligations. Written in rhyme and using kid friendly terminology. At each bedtime reading, I felt more and more excited to read it. Rereading some of them aloud made me think about how lovely they would undoubtedly sound to a young audience during story time or bedtime.

I adored the positive effect it will have on making sure dogs are loved and well-cared for! This is a tale about the power of unadulterated, enduring love and an unbreakable tie that is elegantly and poetically expressed. It may be a little too sentimental in places for certain people, but it is unquestionably a great book that will someday go down in history. Illustrations by Claudia Gadotti are equally stunning. Either silently or aloud, reading it is a complete joy. Through the novel, the deeper subtleties of love, belonging, and friendship is investigated. There are also some useful lessons in there.
